We’re back at it in 2016 with some exciting changes.
First off CYCL has restructured and is under new leadership. Mike Long has refocused his youth mountain bike racing efforts statewide and is heading up the new North Carolina Interscholastic Cycling League and Jamie Conger has taken up the helm at CYCL.
In 2016 we are excited to announce that we will be adding an all new race venue to the series and Rocky Branch Trail in Belmont has been added to the schedule.
Our 2016 race dates are:
- March 20th, North Mecklenburg Park, Huntersville, NC
- April 10th, Rocky Branch Trail, Belmont, NC
- April 24th, North Mecklenburg Park, Huntersville, NC
- May 15th, Rocky Branch Trail, Belmont, NC
Registration will open soon. Get ready!
The series finale race will be held May 10th, Mother’s Day at North Mecklenburg Park.
We hope to see you all there.
RACE CANCELLED TODAY.
Its just too wet and the bridges are too slick for safe racing and we have a ton more rain coming soon.
Tentative reschedule date is May 3rd.
What a great day for a bike race. We have some pretty nice photos posted here on our Facebook page. Series sponsor Cool Breeze Cyclery and Trek Bikes of Charlotte took a bunch of really nice photos as well that you can view on their Facebook page.

Folks we are happy to announce that the 2015 CYCL race dates are March 22nd and 29th, April 12th and 19th at North Mecklenburg Park, Huntersville, NC.
Online registration is coming soon. Come on out and bring a friend or two!
It’s been a blast watching you all learn, grow and achieve.
It goes without saying that nothing happens in a vacuum and as such a lot of individuals and organizations need to be recognized. So here goes….
Our races, as always, were conducted by Neal Boyd’s awesome crew at Charlotte Sports Timing.
The food today was supplied by our newest sponsor, the fine folks at Bike Line of Charlotte. Food at previous races was brought to you by The Cyclepath, Cool Breeze Cyclery and Trek Bikes of Charlotte, and Blood Sweat and Gears of Denver.
The water bottles were supplied by series sponsor REI
The 2014 series was brought to you through the generous sponsorship of Charlotte Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics.
Our Bike Shop sponsors for 2014 were Bike Line of Charlotte, QueenCity Bicycles, The Cyclepath, Cool Breeze Cyclery and Trek Bikes of Charlotte, and Blood Sweat and Gears of Denver.
Remember those guys with the green jerseys you saw at every race course marshaling, setting up the course, tearing down the course and helping with the skills clinics? That’s the hard working members of the Tarheel Trailblazers mountain bike club. The Trailblazers built and maintain not only the trails at Fisher Farm and North Mecklenburg but over 100 miles of mountain bike trails in our area. All of those trails were designed, built and maintained through volunteer labor. We would have nothing to ride if not for them.
I think it’s very important to point out that these business and clubs expend their time and effort to make our community a better place. Not everyone does that and we at CYCL believe strongly that you should support the people that support you. Please make it a point to visit one of our sponsors and to thank them for their support of your child and the 2014 CYCL series.
We hope you’ve enjoyed the series and some of the changes we made such as adding the course at North Mecklenburg Park and the skills clincs. We’d love to hear your feedback for 2015.
The weather this weekend is awesome! We are really looking forward to racing tomorrow is super nice conditions. Everyone bring a friend, a bunch of noisemakers and let’s race!
The weather is looking like it’s going to be wet this weekend and hopefully be a really nice day for the race on Sunday. The trails will most likely be too wet to ride without causing damage to the trail. So if the trails are too wet we will be changing things up a bit and we will mark out a cyclocross style course (without barriers) using the meadows and greenway trails at Fisher Farm. It should be a fun day of racing.
So be sure to get registered and come on out for a fun day of bike racing at Fisher Farm, rain or shine!
I had posted before our last race that there was a chance that we might postpone the race due to rain. We did indeed race last week.
Somehow my post here to our website did not publish last Sunday morning but the notification to our Facebook page did. I’m sorry if that caused anyone any confusion. We’ll do better next time.
So the next race will be held Sunday March 30th at Fisher Farm park in Davidson.
Photos from the series kickoffs are available on our Facebook page.
